a total of 11 days of been inactive, i am back. initially intend to blog with the pics but decide to split up since i am only going to get the pics after a few days. So here's one with my thoughts of the past events.
let's begin with E5. started out when Jason mentioned that his friend need councillors for a freshmen camp. Joined and kinda of regret initially as i need to reshuffle alot of my schedules. went for the trials, briefings and of cos the day for the camp came.
Day 0- prep for the councilors, i thought it will be a early night but it didn't end as early as i thought. slept at 2.
Day 1- picking up of freshies. ice breaking games which include the "infamous" games~ 'huh, what, why' and 'haha, hehe, wahaha'. internal hunt. Mysterious Journey where i was one of the station ICs together with wei bin and melvin. WB and I were having fun "applying" slimy stuff on others while i was a victim of my own mischief as well. Slept at 4.
Day 2- external hunt. was at clementi scs as the station ic. fortunately for the social workers there, i manage to do it without a hitch. Joined the grp for the rest of the hunt. SP 2 as guidance. cluedo night where numerous outstanding performances from the councilors. talent time practice. Slept at 4.
Day3- mass games. sp dance. movie date where the councilors played numerous games from "ouch orhbiee orhbiee", "donkey", "happy family", "polar bear", "minimizer" to "pig". talent time practice. Slept at 4.
Day 4- Sentosa. i am finally "alive". took part in a few of the games. i like the treasure hunt. can't believe i can still run so fast. on sand somemore. sp revelation at pasir ris park. talent time where everyone get high. slept at 4 plus.
Day 5- prize giving. KAHU is the best group. whoosh. lunch with the freshie before they "check out". arcade and movie time with the rest of the councilor. HOME SWEET HOME.
No pics for the camp as i am kinda of lazy to download. going to leave it as memory. i believe i accomplish what i set out to do before the camp.
1) to know more friends (check! as Kahu-ers are a fun and interesting bunch of ppl)
2) have a taste of freshmen camp (check! sadly not as a freshies)
3) to attend a camp that is non regimental (check! after 2 yrs of army, i kinda of used to regimentation)
this camp i selectively choose to be "alive" since it is my first camp after army and i believe i did it to great deal. it is definitely different from army, though i was the games ic for three batches. spurring a bunch of freshies on is easier than a bunch of botaks though i have good recod of games day runner up and champions. Nxt yr if i was to go back for E6, i will know what to expect and the "lively period" will be more. Oh yar, the duration of rest is lesser than army, and to think recruits are getting 7 hrs of sleep daily and yet produce half- f*** standard. i think SAF should just introduce freshmen camps to their training program since it is physical (walk and walk, run and run in Sentosa) and mental (preparation for talent time in wee hours and having to write letters to their SP).
Next up: Hong Kong trip.
the idea was brought up in Feb when Jon say he got block leave in July. planning only begins after may 6 when i ended my exam and i start to do my research. got to thank my company for the numerous hours of "free web surfing" they provide.
Day 0- went to the Airport at 11 plus to escape the horrible mid night cab fare charges. hang around the airport, eating and dozing off a little before the flight.
Day 1- Jet* was not a bad air carrier service but the leg room is too little for me. got to admit i do feel hot and uncomfortable at times.reach HK airport around 11 and we immediately got to work which is to find the hotel. manage to find it at 1 plus after a long one hour walk. had our first HK meal and then its off to the Wax Museum. fun time posing with the wax statues and of cos the Horror Room. a 3 mins Movie date but 10000X scarier. the wonderful view at the peak and the harbour show which leave us amazed. was a little disappointed at the amount of electricity spent to generate such a show and it is a daily show somemore. Japanese dinner at SOGO. supper is cup noddles in the hotel room.
Day 2- rain keep pouring down but we had our first char chang teng brunch. ocean park was next where we took our thrill ride- the mine train. wil2 was scared that he just close his eyes throughout the ride. see the jelly fish, sharks and the underwater creatures before heading to see PANDAs. nice and cute, so gentle looking. manage to grab a video of one having its meal. dinner was at one of the recommended stalls which provide nice home-cooked food. our first encounter with pimp. SW was approached by one guy and though we don't understand canto, we suspect he is a pimp. Ladies street was next and it's shopping along it.
Day 3- breakfast at Mcdonalds before heading to my magical world- DISNEYLAND. rain was pouring again but it was never going to dampen my mood in meeting my Minnie. had lots of fun and it is really a great dream come true to be there in such a magical place. something words can't describe as it is too magical. dinner was in disneyland itself. went to the supermarket and got a bit of cup noodles and some drinks before heading back hotel for a night of minimizer. wil2 was ask to translate one word from one ang mo to the shopowner and the word is CONDOM. we have a laugh about it and guess what, the ang mo live in the same hotel as us. lol.
Day 4- finally my first dim sum meal. rain again but we have so much joy in eating the dim sum that it doesn't bother me. braved the rain to grab the famous egg tarts. went to do some last min shopping before heading to the airport for the departing flight. and i did some last min shopping there too after Luke sms me to welcome me back. feeling bad i bought a piece of chocolate for him.
Day 5- Reached SG at 1150. and finally check out at 1210. bought lots of alcohol from DFS thanks to jon and wil2 who don't want to buy so i ended up having 3 3litre of alcohol. ate at BK with wei before heading home.
this HK trip is a very memorable and satisfying one for me, it is really a own production as i planned it and execute it with the other 3 members. of cos without the cooperation of the other 3, it will not be a pleasant trip. i don't know the feeling of the other 3 but for me, it is really a great trip. my only regret is i didn't get to go to the Big Buddha temple and to see their clubbing scene. another thing i am proud of is i manage to work within the $500 budget not for myself only but for the other 3 guys too. sadly we don't have more spending power, or i would have bought more soft toys home. things i bought: 3 shirts, 1 sweater, 2 other shirts to be given, 1 shirt for mum, 1 mickey-minnie couple soft toy, 2 Disney key chains, 1 Disney poker cards, 1 Chip soft toy (wanted to buy dale too but due to lack of money. so sw got dale and i got chip) and of cos the last min purchase of the Olympic mascots key chains and 1 box of 9 small piece of chocolate for the Kahu-ers (wonder how they going to split). feel a bit bad since i only got stuff for 3 friends and mum. while the rest of the peeps i know i didn't get any.
alright, basically HK is no different from SG and i really feel very much at home. the train services, the night market, the shopping malls, the buildings and even the girls. lol. actually i still prefer taiwan as the girls are more attractive. this trip i guess the girls who caught my eyes somehow are SGean as we met them in Disney and took the same flight back to SG.
k, i'm done with the short thoughts and memory sharing post. up next will be the 5 days of pictures which might required a little longer time since i am still collecting the pics..
till then, i am missing Disney already.
P.S i got 6 soft toys but no girl girl to give. so going to wrap up nice nice and keep one side.
