just finished watching the Liverpool vs SG match. personally right from the start i know it is a waste of time to watch such match since 1) i dont support Liverpool, 2) being friendly, no one will put in much effort especially the visiting since they are here for pre-season, 3) they will definitely not start with the starting line up. however, i still watched it because i have nothing else on the telly to watch.
the first image shown when i turned on the TV was the whole scene of RED in the stadium. Red not the colour of the nation but the visiting team. personally i have no prob with people supporting their own club but seeing them wave the banners, wearing the club jerseys, passing down the huge banners around the stadium and even making themselves heard throughout the whole match disgust me. mind you, this is just a friendly and a commercial gimmick, yet the fans put in so much effort. When the National team plays in the world cup qualifier, do we see this? NEVER. so why give so much support to a club that has no relation to you. And referring to an article i read from the paper. A local footballer also wonder why such things happen? if the fans are truly going for glory, go for one which is winning. Not one that had been title pretenders for the past 10 years. i guess the number of ppl donning the national jersey is definitely much much lesser than those who wear their favourite club jersey. which is why despite buying every edition of the jersey that man u come out with, I never wear any of them once.
speaking enough of the fans, i think the national players are at fault too. alot of them are star gazing when they played these friendly since they themselves are fans of their more illustrious counterpart. So in a way, if the national players do put aside their "wandering eyes" and start being more professional, i believe, the local fans will be supporting them more often and create an atmosphere which can "frighten" any opponent that enter the Lions' den.
on a side note, should i get the new jersey of man u? LOL!!!!
