was watching the news while slacking at home the whole day and this particular news struck me.
One PC from tekong was awarded some medal for his distinguished act due to his quick thinking, selflessness and of cos decisiveness in handling the hand grenade throw incident. feel super happy as after all i was an alumni of tekong too. LOL. But his act really show that tekong officers are not "chui". One mindset that a lot of ppl of other ranks always have. Anyway, it is also the Charlie/ Hotel commissioning parade. 2 yrs after i left that parade square. thess guys are exactly 2 yrs my juniors. Was reading the Reviewing officer Speech and this struck me too!
The best way to lead is by example. Whatever you say to them, the men and women under you will take dressing from what you do. What you expect them to do, you yourself must first be prepared to do. Train them well and push them hard, for this is the best way to give them the confidence that they will accomplish their mission and return home safely. Look after them and always have their safety at heart, so that they will follow you in the face of danger, knowing that you will do your best to lead them back safely again. Your actions, more than your words, will determine whether they will trust and follow you.
I guess this apply not only in army, but in any other stuff we do.
Anyway, this is just a short note as i continue mugging again!
P.S kind of "army siao" as i am reading the "band of brothers", and "citizen soldiers" book currently. So this type of actions or sentence do struck me hard.
